Jared Esala is the new Head Coach of Fond du Lac Wrestling program. Coach Esala received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. While at UWSP he competed on the Wrestling team, as well as, working as an Assistant Coach. After graduating from UWSP Coach Esala accepted a Physical Education position and the Head Wrestling Coach position at Oshkosh West from 2005-2012. Coach Esala then moved to Ripon to teach Physical Education and become the Head Wrestling Coach from 2012-2017. He then spent one year as the Assistant Principal / Athletic Director at New London High School.

Notable High School Accomplishments: 2X Conference Champion, WIAA-3rd Place, Greco-Roman State Runner- up, Freestyle State Champion, Wisconsin All-Scholastic Team Member, and 3X Team Captain.

Notable College Accomplishments: 2X Greco-Roman All-American, University

National Runner-Up, NCAA Academic All-American, WIAC Scholar Athlete, and Team Captain.

Notable High School Coaching Accomplishments (Oshkosh West High and Ripon High): 167-89 Career Dual Meet Record, 23 State Qualifiers, 9 FVA Champions,7 EVC 1st Team Selections,5 ECC Champions, 2 Regional Team Championships, 4 High School All-Americans, and 2011 Fox Valley Association Coach of the Year.

“I feel very blessed to be offered a teaching position in Fond du Lac, and I’m extremely excited and honored to be back coaching the great sport of wrestling. Fond du Lac has the perfect school district and community to build a wrestling dynasty. The facilities and support from the school district, community, and alumni are top notch, and our goal is to put Fond du Lac wrestling back on top. I want to do everything I can to make it happen. It might not happen overnight, but it will happen with hard work, determination, grit, and accepting a standard of excellence. I have always been impressed with the work ethic the people of Fond du Lac seem to all have.

I can’t wait to get to know all of the community members and student-athletes currently involved in the wrestling program and to reach out to future student-athletes. I believe if we get the right people on board, FONDY will be extremely proud of their wrestling program. Success is right around the corner!”
